Who we are
Big City Blinds is a sole trader business based in Birmingham, United Kingdom. We are the "controller" of the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about this policy or your information by email at hello@bigcityblindsbirmingham.com or by phone on 07902 945533.
What information we collect
When you request a quote through our website, we collect:
- your name, phone number and postcode;
- your email address, if you choose to give it;
- the products you're interested in, your type of property and any message you send;
- the page of our website you came from (so we know which pages are helpful).
If you call, email or message us on WhatsApp, we receive your phone number or email address and anything you tell us. If you become a customer, we also keep details of your order, measurements and your address for the fitting appointment.
How we use your information
- to respond to your enquiry and arrange your free home measure;
- to prepare your quote, make your order and fit your products;
- to provide aftercare, repairs and answer any later questions;
- to keep the records we need for tax and accounting.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing emails or pass it to anyone for their own marketing.
Our legal basis
We use your information because you have asked us to take steps towards a contract (such as giving you a quote), to perform that contract if you go ahead, to meet our legal obligations (such as keeping accounts), and for our legitimate interest in running and improving our business and protecting our website from spam.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run our website and handle enquiries:
- Cloudflare: hosts our website, protects our forms from spam (Turnstile) and provides privacy-friendly visitor statistics;
- Resend: delivers the emails generated by our quote form;
- our email provider: where enquiry emails are received and stored;
- WhatsApp (Meta): if you choose to message us on WhatsApp.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they protect it with legally recognised safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We may also share information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
If you make an enquiry but don't go ahead, we delete your details within 12 months. If you become a customer, we keep order records for 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as required for accounting purposes. Email delivery logs held by our email delivery service are deleted automatically after 30 days.
Cookies and website statistics
Our website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, so we don't need to show a cookie banner. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you. Our quote form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you're a person rather than a bot. This is strictly necessary to keep the form secure.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
- ask us to delete your information, or to stop or restrict using it;
- object to us using your information for our legitimate interests;
- ask for your information in a portable format.

Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
