Made-to-measure blinds

Waterproof Blinds

PVC and wipe-clean fabrics that shrug off steam and splashes, so bathroom and kitchen blinds stay flat, fresh and easy to look after.

Waterproof roller blind in a bathroom
  • Won't soak up water

PVC and coated fabrics don't absorb moisture, so they hold their shape in a steamy room instead of sagging or curling at the edges.

  • Easy to wipe clean

Splashes, toothpaste and cooking grease come off with a damp cloth and a drop of washing-up liquid.

  • Privacy after dark

Opaque fabrics stop shapes showing through bathroom glass when the light is on in the evening.

  • Child-safe operation

Built to the UK child-safety standard, BS EN 13120, with a secured chain or cordless operation.

Bathrooms are hard on window dressings. Every shower fills the room with steam, condensation runs down the glass, and an ordinary fabric blind soaks it all up. Over time it can sag, curl at the edges or develop spots of mildew. A waterproof blind is made from materials that don’t absorb water, so it stays flat and clean in rooms where a standard blind would struggle.

Each waterproof blind we fit is made to measure. In a small bathroom window, a few millimetres either side can be the difference between a neat fit and a blind that catches on the tiles or the window handle every time you lower it.

PVC or wipe-clean fabric?

Not every damp room needs the same thing, and choosing the right material is the most important decision.

  • PVC fabrics are fully waterproof. They’re the right choice for bathrooms, en-suites and shower rooms, where the blind faces steam every day and may catch splashes from the bath.
  • Wipe-clean, moisture-resistant fabrics have a protective finish that copes with cooking steam and the odd splash. They look and feel more like a standard roller blind fabric, which makes them a good fit for kitchens and utility rooms. We wouldn’t put them right next to a shower, though.

When we visit, we’ll look at where the window sits in relation to the bath, basin or sink and recommend the material that suits it.

Where waterproof blinds work best

Bathrooms and en-suites

Frosted or patterned glass gives you privacy during the day, but at night, with the light on, shapes can still show through. A waterproof blind in an opaque fabric solves that. In a compact en-suite or shower room, a roller blind also takes up no space on a narrow windowsill that’s usually busy with toiletries.

Kitchens and utility rooms

A window above the sink gets splashes from the tap, steam from the kettle and grease from cooking. A wipe-clean blind takes all of that in its stride, and a quick wipe brings it back to looking new. Utility rooms, with a washing machine and tumble dryer running, benefit from the same approach.

Other options for steamy rooms

A roller blind isn’t the only answer. Faux wood Venetian blinds are moisture-resistant and let you tilt the slats for privacy while still letting daylight in, which suits bathrooms with clear glass. If your bathroom has uPVC windows, Perfect Fit blinds attach to the window itself rather than the wall, which is handy if you’d rather not drill into tiles. Ask us which Perfect Fit fabrics suit a bathroom.

What we won’t recommend is real wood in a steamy room, as it can warp. Our guide to the best blinds for bathrooms compares the main options in more detail.

How it works

  1. Get a visit booked. Call, WhatsApp or complete the quote form online. We’ll ring you within 24 hours to fix a time.
  2. Measure and compare. We measure the window, check the clearance around taps and handles, and bring PVC and wipe-clean samples so you can feel the difference. The quote costs nothing, with no obligation to go ahead.
  3. Made to fit. Precise, made-to-measure sizing means each blind sits straight, even in a tight, tiled recess.
  4. Fitted with care. Our fitters put them up using the right fixings for tiles and plaster, then tidy up before leaving. Fitting is included in your quote.

If a blind has warped or discoloured in your bathroom before, tell us what happened when we visit. We’ve been fitting blinds for 20 years, and we’ll suggest something that suits the way the room is really used, whether that’s a waterproof roller, faux wood slats or a Perfect Fit blind.

Questions

Waterproof Blinds: common questions

Anything else you'd like to know? Call or WhatsApp us on 07902 945533.

Can a waterproof blind go inside a shower?

They're designed for steam and splashes, not a direct spray from the shower head. If your window is inside the shower itself, mention it when you book and we'll talk through the options at your visit.

Will a waterproof blind go mouldy?

The fabric doesn't absorb water, and damp fabric is what lets mildew take hold in an ordinary blind. A wipe-down now and then and a well-ventilated room will keep it fresh.

Do waterproof blinds look like plastic?

Modern PVC fabrics are smoother and more matt than most people expect, and textured and patterned designs are available. Our samples let you see and feel them for yourself at the visit.

How do I clean a waterproof blind?

Pull it all the way down and wipe both sides with warm, soapy water. Leave it down until it's dry before rolling it back up.
