The classic plantation look. One panel from top to bottom, with tilting louvres for easy control of light and privacy, built to fit your exact window.
Two sets of panels, one above the other, that open independently. Keep the lower half closed for privacy and fold the top back for daylight.
Shutters on the lower part of the window only. Privacy where you need it, with the top left open for daylight and sky.
Sliding and folding shutters on tracks for patio and bifold doors, and shaped shutters for arches, angled tops and bay windows.
Shutters feel less like a window dressing and more like part of the house. Fitted on a frame inside or around your window, they give you tilting louvres for everyday control of light and privacy, and hinged panels that open right back when you want the full view. They suit Victorian bays and Edwardian sashes as naturally as they suit a modern new-build.
Every shutter we fit is made to measure. With shutters, that matters even more than usual. A shutter is a rigid frame, so it can’t stretch or bunch up to hide an uneven recess. In older homes, where windows have moved out of square over the years, building each panel to the sizes we take on site is what gives a close, even fit.
Full-height shutters run from top to bottom in a single panel. They’re the classic plantation look and a favourite for bay windows and living rooms. An optional mid-rail adds strength on tall windows.
Tier-on-tier shutters have two sets of panels, one above the other, that open independently. Close the bottom for privacy and fold the top back for daylight. They’re especially good on street-facing sash windows.
Café-style shutters cover just the lower part of the window and leave the top clear. They’re light and simple, and they work well in kitchens and rooms overlooked at ground level.
Tracked and special-shape shutters handle the openings standard hinged panels can’t: patio and bifold doors on sliding or folding tracks, plus arches and windows with angled tops.
Start with three questions.
After that come the details: louvre size, a painted or stained finish, and whether you’d like a hidden tilt rod for a cleaner front. Bays and corner windows can take any of the hinged styles, with each section made separately and linked at the angles, so the shutters wrap neatly around the window.

A classic, all-over look for a bay or living room
Full-height shutters, with a mid-rail on taller windows
Privacy at street level with daylight above
Tier-on-tier shutters, or café style if the top never needs covering
A bright kitchen that isn't overlooked at the sink
Café-style shutters on the lower part of the window
Patio doors, bifolds or wide openings
Tracked shutters, or panel and vertical blinds for a lighter option
Arched or angled windows
Special-shape shutters made to follow the line of the window

Questions
Neither is better across the board. Shutters feel more permanent and give precise control with their louvres. Blinds come in far more fabrics and styles, and suit some rooms better. We fit both, so we'll recommend whichever suits each window.
Closed shutters add a layer between the room and the glass, which can help reduce heat loss through the window. They're not a substitute for good glazing, though.
Often, yes. The shutters need to sit far enough forward for the window to tilt and open without catching the handle. We'll check the depth of your recess at the visit, and if shutters won't work well, a Perfect Fit blind may be the better option.
Yes. You might choose tier-on-tier at the front for street privacy and full-height in the back rooms. Keeping the same finish throughout ties everything together.
