Made-to-measure blinds

Faux Wood Venetian Blinds

The look of painted or natural wood slats in a moisture-resistant material, so you can have Venetian blinds in kitchens, bathrooms and busy rooms.

White faux wood Venetian blind above a kitchen sink
  • Built for damp rooms

The slats are made from a moisture-resistant material, so steam from a shower or kettle won't make them bow or warp.

  • The look of wood

Smooth painted colours and wood-effect finishes give the clean lines of a timber blind at a glance.

  • Wipe-clean slats

Fingerprints, splashes and steam marks clean up in moments, which makes them practical for kitchens and family homes.

  • Tilt for privacy

Angle the slats to let daylight in while keeping the room private, ideal for bathrooms with clear glass.

Faux wood Venetian blinds give you the clean lines and tilting slats of a wooden blind in a material that doesn’t mind damp. Because the slats are made from a moisture-resistant synthetic rather than timber, they can go in the rooms where real wood would struggle: above a kitchen sink, in a family bathroom, or in an en-suite that steams up every morning.

They’re tough, too. The slats can be wiped down as often as you like, they stand up well to everyday knocks, and white and grey finishes keep their crisp look in bright, busy rooms.

Faux wood or real wood?

Both are made to measure and both tilt in exactly the same way. The real question is the room.

Faux wood Real wood
Steamy bathrooms and en-suites Yes Not recommended
Directly above a kitchen sink Yes Not ideal
Up close An even, consistent finish Natural variation from slat to slat
Best suited to Kitchens, bathrooms, rentals, family rooms Living rooms, dining rooms, studies, bedrooms

If the room stays dry and you love the character of natural timber, a real wooden Venetian blind is a lovely choice. For anywhere that sees steam or splashes, faux wood is the sensible option, and in painted white or grey the difference is hard to spot. We go into more detail in our article comparing wooden and faux wood Venetian blinds.

Where faux wood works best

Kitchens

Tilted partly open, the slats let plenty of daylight onto the worktop while hiding the washing-up from anyone walking past. Splashes from the tap wipe straight off, and the blind won’t swell from the steam of a boiling kettle or pan.

Bathrooms and en-suites

Clear glass in a bathroom is a common problem. Set at the right angle, faux wood slats let light in while blocking the view from outside, so you don’t have to choose between privacy and a bright room. If you’d prefer a flat fabric instead of slats, a waterproof roller blind is the alternative we’d suggest.

Home offices

Slats are ideal for working at a screen. Tilt them just far enough to take the glare off your monitor while the room stays bright. A study is a dry room, so real wood would work equally well here; choose whichever look you prefer.

Rental properties

Faux wood blinds are hard-wearing, neutral and quick to clean between tenancies, which makes them a practical choice for landlords. See our page for landlords and letting agents for more on furnishing rental homes.

How it works

  1. Drop us a line. Call, WhatsApp or request your quote online, and we’ll find a visit slot that fits around you, including Saturdays and Sundays.
  2. Measure and match. We measure every window and hold faux wood samples beside your cupboards, worktops or tiles, so you can match or contrast them. There’s no charge and no obligation.
  3. Built to size. The width and drop of every blind match its window precisely.
  4. Fitting day. Our fitter puts the blinds up, sets the tilt and checks each one raises and lowers smoothly. Fitting is included in your quote.

Faux wood is often the answer when someone loves the look of a wooden blind but has the wrong room for it. If you’re torn between the two, we’ll bring samples of both to your home visit. After 20 years in this line of work, our team will give you honest advice on which suits each room better.

Questions

Faux Wood Venetian Blinds: common questions

Anything else you'd like to know? Call or WhatsApp us on 07902 945533.

Are faux wood blinds heavier than real wood?

Slightly, yes. On a very wide window we may suggest splitting the width into two blinds so each one stays easy to raise. We'll talk you through it when we measure.

Are faux wood blinds child-safe?

Yes. Like all our blinds, they meet BS EN 13120, the UK child-safety standard. Lift cords have safety devices fitted, and we'll position any cleats out of children's reach.

How do I clean faux wood blinds?

Tilt the slats shut and wipe along them with a cloth dampened in mild, soapy water, then flip the tilt and do the other side. Unlike real wood, they don't mind a proper wipe-down.

Can faux wood blinds go on tilt-and-turn windows?

Yes. We fit the blind so it clears the opening window and its handle, either in the recess or on the wall above. We check how each window opens when we measure.
